GANDTT

Hi

with our 10 years old son we decided to build a new TT layout. Here is the first version. The idea is comming from John Allen, actually I wanted to build a copy of his 3rd layout, but the space is not yet available, so we decided to take over as much we can (but not a copy). This is just the first version. The real construction is planned for next fall (the room mut be finished before).
Awaiting your comments. (the track underneath the station are not finished). Also the turntable is bigger as planned (the drawing program does not have a smaller one.
The whole layout should be on 3 tables (3 sections) basically in 3 layers. The top station will have more straight tracks, it was just not that easy to draw them.

Can you split up the tracks in their respective segments/layers (it's a bit hard to see what's going on)?

It is quite difficult - no experience yet with this new drawing program. All my pervious layouts were made on paper in much simpler way. It is the first time in my life I use some CAD for layout drawing. Basically there are twi single track lines with hidden station (black tracks - level 1 - bellow the blue tracks level 3 ).

I guess I'm mostly confused between the top and bottom plans. Are they 2 parts of the same layout?

Not defined yet, but rather remote mountains, something in the middle of last century (with steam). Both lines are long singletrack lines, one with a covered station for train exchange (black tracks on the level 1). The second line is rather a local line connecting some industrial areas (mines) we will have also a small narrow gauge industrial tracks.
I am thinking also about some tricky solutions to change the era of the layout, because we have plenty of rolling stock from the late 70-ies and 80-ies.
Most of the rolling stock is European, but I would like to build also some US stock just for fun for special events on the layout. That is way we did not decided all details yet. We will see during the construction.

Thanks. I just started to make the control electronics (occupancy detectors - around 50 pcs! :-) ), the layout is still in project status.
Here is the latest version It has got a short mining RR (Busch 6.5 mm gauge) and some improvement on the yard.

And here is a simple computer simulation of the terrain. (Far away from our plans... )
