TT Scale. The Ideal Scale.

Every freight station must have some trucks, vans or pickups for delivery.

So I want to show you some TT (or almost TT) vehicles suitale for TT:



1) 1946-1949 International K-serie truck ("kitbashed" model using Russian ZiS-150. Tanker truck, tractor with semi-trailer, and delivery van are available too)

2) 1956 Ford F pickup from Mini-Things

3) 1941 Ford delivery van from Fine N scale (it is declared as N, but suitable for TT). Tractor with semi-trailer is also available.

4) Volkswagen Transporter van

5) 1934 Ford pickup from Fine N scale (it is declared as N, and it is a little bit small for TT, but I hope I can use it for background). In fact, I am sure, it is 1935 or 1936 Ford, not 1934.

Also I have 1940 Ford woodie station wagon and 1948 Federal Model 65 truck, "kitbashed" model using Russian YaAZ, but I did not photo them.

But I need a lot of American-style buildings to build a city... where should I take them from?..
Maybe I'll try to build some J.E.Harmon's paper buildings, but I am afraid they will not look good. Maybe I'll use Auhagen's widows and doors for them.

Maybe I can use some Auhagen's or Vollmer's or so German-style buildings to model some city in ethnic German region, somewhere in Pennsylvania or Wisconsin, or so. But even in this case I need some American-style buildings too!

Maybe I can use some N-scale buildings, if I find oversized ones.

I think I'll combine all these methods.
I am afraid I have not a lot of space for layout, so I'll build a tiny one, maybe 1*0.5 meters.

I'll try to build a freight station somewhere at the city's outskirts. I want to use Busch's freight house (Busch 8771), hope it will be suitable as American one.



And maybe some Auhagen's industrial buildings too - hope the factories are almost the same anywhere in the world.
And a city street somewhere near it.
I think it is a good place to use trucks!

But when I published my photo, I wanted just show you that there are some opportunities to model commercial transport as scenery in American TT too! Not only railway wagons and passenger autos.

Alas, I do not know German...

I think the NA buildings are noticeable different to the europeans in some aspects, but you can may kitbash some commercial models?! For a small street scenery like this you'll rarely need whole buildings, mostly just frontages and/or sides and roofs. And why not using the B.T.S. wood buildings? You can modify them too.

Yes, of course.
But I know there are a lot of ethnic Germans in Pennsylvania or Wisconsin or North Dakota, or some other states.
Maybe some of them built their houses in german style?..

I've found very few BTS TT-scale buildings. No city bulidings; only station building, locomotive shed and some railway company building. Do you mean one of them, or maybe there are some other BTS TT-scale building that I didn't notice?

I think NA buildings are less ornate and more drab than the European buildings.

Take the European buildings and give them flat roofs. Cut off the filigree and gingerbread.

If you don't flatten the roofs, you should at least lower the pitch and get rid of the dormers.
