AS-204 / STS-51-L Anniversaries

For those that did not know, today anniversary of the shuttle Challenger and her crew on STS-51-L, and yesterday was the anniversary of the AS-204 pad test fire, more often known as Apollo 1.

Amen. Luckily for mankind space has become a bit of an international "thing". I really hope the Russians work through whatever problems their launches have been experiencing lately.

Luckily, we did not have human casualties last time. Only some pieces of iron.

BTW the 27 January (almost the same date) is a memorial day in my city.
It is anniversary of the deblockade of Leningrad during the World War II, in 1944.
Blockade lasted for almost 900 days.
1.5 million people died of hunger and cold. :(
